What server to pick for my app??? (Google App engine)

My first thought when I looked for servers for my new APP was the AMAZON servers (http://aws.amazon.com/), but then a friend pointed out this google service, which is cheaper, and if its suits our needs, it may be a better choice – https://developers.google.com/appengine/

Google offer support for JAVA, PYTHON and GO, and it also include databases.

According to google, this service includes:

  • dynamic web serving, with full support for common web technologies
  • persistent storage with queries, sorting and transactions
  • automatic scaling and load balancing
  • APIs for authenticating users and sending email using Google Accounts
  • a fully featured local development environment that simulates Google App Engine on your computer
  • task queues for performing work outside of the scope of a web request
  • scheduled tasks for triggering events at specified times and regular intervals

An application on a free account can use up to 1GB of storage and 5 million page views per months. I figure this quite impressive for a free service. I’m planning on doing some investigation. Will keep posting…
